At 11,000 feet, just west of the crest of the White Mountains, Andy wandered into this grove of ancient bristlecones and realized that they were positioned to catch the sun’s last and warmest rays. He roamed and found this burly and twisted but thriving tree. Just before the light started to fade he had time to capture both a vertical and horizontal composition. A breeze played with some of the branches, and the motion adds a hint of now to an image that evokes centuries of stalwart poise
