Deep in the High Sierra, the Great Western Divide is a toothy, skyscraping chain of peaks that takes a good two days of hiking to reach. Andy hauled in his heavy camera gear to a climbing basecamp, and found this little tarn on a bench across the canyon from the high peaks. After a day of climbing he came back to it, and waited for the sunlight to cast across the grassy peninsula. Haze from a wildfire was rising to veil the peaks, amplifying the sense of grandeur and scale.
